CEfN: Big Business Crushes Small Ma and Pa Store

Half of you might ask the question, "What the fuck is up with this picture full of cats?". The other half would say "Aww, the unemployment rate is up..."the latter would be correct for Lazer Cats has closed down. This is yet another example of big business such as "Club Siberia" or the "HTG Casino" towering over the little man. Where the hell will I get cat-based fun now? An old dirty apartment. Sometimes this country makes me sick.

CeFN: Your Head Asplode

This season has been completely awesome, I'm glad that my shows have been so positevely responded recently. I hope I can keep it up in the coming weeks as a writer. On the viewing side of things, a lot of new shows have really surprised me in terms of quality and zest most notably being The Waystation, Wolfgang & Zombie, and New York.
-Quantum(in regards to this session as a whole)

Five O' Clock PM, the crisp October air gave way to a world of no regrets & no rules. The sun had a bit of time left but it was bound to set, a pity. Luckily though I converse with the highest echelon of Rag Writers. While having a particularly riveting conversation with one he managed to slip me the goods, the reason I came. SCANNERS AND THE MASSACRE HAD BEEN RENEWED. I yelled my biggest bellow(meep) and ran around screaming "The Ravens won the Super Bowl!" before I halted. I needed to consult with this really reliable guy I knew.

Seven O' Clock PM SHARP, I arrived at Socialite, Writer, Aggressive Gamer and kinda cool guy Quantum's Loft. We both take a seat as he begins to play his usual soundtrack filled with Metric, Gorillaz & Hawksley Workman.

"So is The Massacre and Scanners really getting renewed?" I ask, eyes as wide as dinner plates.

"Yes, they both got renewed." Quantum says in a nonchalant voice, god he's hip.

"Thank god! So with Chris Pine and Tia Carrere coming on board this season, who do you foresee playing in Scanners?" I query him.

"Right now we're looking at several possibilites. Although I can't 100% confirm it, it looks as though Jason Ritter, Danielle Harris, Christopher Plummer, and Jim Parsons will be joining the cast with two, yet to be announced current regulars, will find themselves departing from the cast." He rapidly spits out words like some mad MC.

I nod at him, "Sounds awesome...say, have you been interacting with any of the cast since the season started?'

"Yes, I have been. I try and regularly visit the set. They're currently filming the finale as we speak. If you thought last season's finale was huge, wait until you see what we have in store. "
He responds, eyes full of passion. Typical Quantum, always go big or go home with him.

"Nice to see that you've been taking part on-set. Now is Tia hot or is it just me?" I flank him with a humorous question, we'll see if his facade breaks here.

"Yes, Tia is very hot. I'm very glad that I decided to cast her." He responds robotically, his mask stays....

"Great, now about The Massacre. Season 2 is greenlit before the finale's even aired! Which direction do you think the series will go after all this Sleeper Success?"

"I think it's going to go up in awesomeness! Seriously, though, I have big plans for the show and I just hope that people will keep on watching. I'm thrilled that Mac greenlight a second season so early on. I know exactly how the next season will start. You haven't seen anything yet."

I nod once more, this time with an understanding grin. "So as a Producer you're still making films, do you have anything on the horizon and what films are you excited for?"

"Well, I have Fear Itself 3 coming out and after that I'll try and tackle my long in the works Sandman movie. And after that? Who knows. Anything is possible." He proclaimed boldy.

With another nod I went for the toughest and most appropriate question, "What's your favorite news source?"

"All of them!" He shouts. That was not AT ALL the answer I was looking for.

"Look...this is a little awkward but can you throw me out of your house? It's the only way I know how to leave places anymore...." I ask him.

"No." He answers, I stand up dejected as I look around his house.

"Oh, well see you around I guess...." I say as I walk over to his window and begin to crawl through it, Case Closed?

Close Enough For Noir: What The Hell?

-Like an Asian Man gaping at his choices.
-blueothello(right this moment)

The HTG Awards, a blur of a time before a time. I awoke after a month long coma and Oh my god I still have a job. My happiness can be measured in thinly written blog posts but enough of that, I came here for a new reason....to talk about all the faboulous new shows of this session...or at least what I like about it.

Heavy Hitters:
These are the shows I watch as soon as the Week Pages come up shows like....

WOLFGANG & ZOMBIE:
I know the guy who writes this and he's an uber-cool astronaut, he'd be more UBER COOL if he gave me a raise but aside from that I fucking love his show because I like cartoons and I like Nazi Zombies. If this show died then a piece of me would die with it.

THE MASSACRE:
I love my Conspiracy Theories and Quantum force feeds them to me every week. The "Rubicon" of HTG TV and my god I wouldn't want it any other way.

BEHEMOTH:
It's a totally awesome show for totz rad peoplez, if you aren't watching well...yeah.

SCANNERS:
Tia Carrere is hot enough and the writing is A-OK. Not to mention a plot manly enough to put hair on the guy sitting next to you's chest. I love Scanners like a schoolgirl loves her Italian Reality Shows.

THE TICK:
The Tick's back, ergo Comedy's back. I love the show and I just got into it a little while back. DON'T BE ME, GET ON THIS GRAVY TRAIN RIGHT NOW.

Sleepers:
The shows that surprise me, usually read them later on.

SPORT OF KINGS:
There's plot behind those tracks and by Jesus' glory that plot is enough to keep me stumbling back for more.

THE LUNCH MONSTER:
Animation is at an all-time high and The Lunch Monster is what I'd call the Sleeper of the 4 Animated Series. It comes to the table with everything to prove as it's Producer Dartcher's debut Television Series. With Rogue's thin lineup chances are this'll see a renewal.

SOUTH HAMPTON:
The writing doesn't pull me in and what I percieve as a Teen Bopper plot doesn't either but hey, we all have our guilty pleasures. Wink wink nudge fudge.

Other stuff:
I get to these last or virtually never

Suicide Handguide & New York:
The guy who writes these are really awesome and he already told me the entire series premise so I never have a need to read these.

FALSETTOLAND:
Homosexual Musical fails to thrill me, I don't know why but it just does.

UNDERGROUND DAN:
I never ever got around to watching it, should I start?

HOLLYWOOD PIT PRESENTS:
Grr.

THE WAYSTATION:
Watched the first ep, failed to pull me in and I struggle to get through the second.

But hey, there's a couple of other shows on Television but so far I don't have an opinion at all on those, if you care at all about this, Close Enough for Noir or I Am An Astronaut drop by the comments. Your comments are our food. OMNOMNOM.

Noir: The Awards(Part I)

It was awards day and I was ready, had my suit and Emma Watson at my side. Before I left my apartment though I looked at my Caller ID and frowned, it was Seal again....not today buddy, not today.

So as I rode my Limo(AKA Sedan) down to the Award Ceremony I spotted familiar faces. Lucian, Marlowe and CzarTim. My competitors...next year that is. This year they were still "Nominees" for Best Journalist. I was quickly ushered into the building with Emma hanging onto my shoulder. Tonight was going to be a good night, I was nominated for Best New Producer and I might actually win, but no this isn't all about me. This is also about everyone that isn't me(sadly). So as took my seat beside Emma.

Before I knew Mac was up on the stage flailing. The Talent awards had been handed out. Elizabeth Banks, Jude Law, William Friedkin and Amanda Seyfried were among the few, the glorious, the winners. I was chosen to announce best Creative Company. As I struggled to get to the stage and announce RS as Winner I felt my tape recorder slipping....but it didn't fall. All was well. RS ended up winning which was awesome for him. I left the stage hastily and prepared for the next award to be called up...

Close Enough For Noir: A Merger Like No Other

For the last week things had been moving slow at the office. Toran didn't take sleeping on the job lightly but I had nothing else to do but to my surprise a man came into my office.

"You need an appointment to get in here." I relayed over to him.

"I've got big news, game changing news!" He told me.

"Game changers? Like I haven't heard that one before." I laughed off his claims before he slung something over to me. Two logos, one Wonder Inc, the other was Mac Studios. "The hell is this?" I asked him.

"A merger, I thought it was a lie....but I was wrong!" He yelled at me before quickly fleeing my office.

"Okay, this is getting a little stupid. Time to nip this problem in the bud." I said before grabbing my coat, it was time to meet CzarTim.

I walked into Tim's office after twenty minutes of hard questioning by his secretary. She was terrible at her job.

"Hello." The man spokes to me with a noticeable gusto in his voice.

"Hey Tim, you need to fire that secretary of yours." I ordered him. He chuckled back in response. "No seriously, she's terrible."

"Well, I assume you came here for a reason." He began.

"Wonder Inc, Mac Studios. Shoot." I commanded him once again.

"Yes Mac and me have combined our studios. It's a wonderful merger in my opinion." He spoke out to me.

"What's your mission plan?" I asked.

"Well, I had been thinking about closing down Wonder. It was too time consuming. However, I decided it'd be better to ask Mac if he'd like to help run things instead. So our mission plan is to make money. Lots of it." He chit-chatted off. I pretended to write all of this down in my notepad, instead though I drew a bunny(bunnies are awesome).

"Any films on the horizon?" I queried the man.

"Tons. The good thing about bringing Mac on board is he's the most prolific producer in the game." He told me. I nodded in response.

"Is Mac a good business partner though?" I questioned him again.

"Well, it might be to early to tell, but I'm optimistic. So far it's been great." He answered once again. It was time for a question to hurt his head, to psych him out.

"What's your favorite news source?" I asked him with a huge grin on my face.

"WordPunch!" He answered with a fierce growl, one could assume I was pummeling him from the loud response....as his security force did and promptly escorted me from the building. For the second time in a month I found myself face first on the sidewalk clinging to my Tape Recorder. The only indication of a job well done.

Close Enough for Noir: Oh Emm Geeeeeeeeeee

So I was minding my own business, walking around Hollywood. Offering my services to old women everywhere(my only demographic besides Toran) and before I knew it I spotted a new face! One that seemed to be unblemished in this dark world of Scriptwriting and Film Production. This is going to be good.

(Welcome to the game Dartcher)

Close Enough For Noir: Detective Fightmaster at his Finest

-Grrrrowl

Seen here is Autumn Reeser who will be playing Ash Brooks in Raptor/Quantum's new show The Massacre. Catch it this fall on Rogue Net but to hold off you crazy dogs I made it my personal mission to interview this lovely lady about the upcoming show. So as I applied my fake mustache and black suit I came up with an idea to get me into Club Siberia free of charge...which failed. 100 bucks after the fact I was able to meet Autumn Reeser at a small bar. With the music thumping and the dancers out I slowly edged over to her before making contact.

blue(othello): Brrrrrrraaaalll(in my mind: Hey, how you doing?)

Autumn: What?
I screwed up! Time to quickly regain composure.

blue: I said Heeeellllllllll this place is cold! I love it though.

Autumn: Oh, me too. So who are you anyway?

blue: Me? I'm Maxwell FightMaster of course(my codename for every situation involving women of course.). Now a little birdy told me that you have an upcoming show.

Autumn: Oh the Massacre? Yeah I'm in that. I play a woman named Ashe.

blue: You in a horror TV Show!? That combines two things I love!

I start bumping my head up and down to the music, the only way I can blend in with the crowd of course!

Autumn: No it's a Conspiracy Thriller. Like Rubicon, I'm a main character.

blue: Rubicon? I love that show! So how often am I gonna be seeing you?

Autumn: Well I[m kinda minor at first so in the pilot don't expect to see me but I come to prominence in the later episodes.

blue: Awesome! Say how about I buy you a drin-

At this point a large hand arrived on my back. Mr. T, damn he found me. Two minutes later I found myself on the ground outside of Siberia. The fool! He wasn't counting on the Wire tapped to my chest. I had all the news I needed but alas I was banned once again. Oh well, T can never stop me. This Action Journalist blueothello punching out!

I'm An Astronaut: "HTG, and the Journalism Uprising"

After a spending a few weeks back in HTG, I really saw how things have changed around here. At one time, people complained about how many movies were being released weekly. At most, there would be only a couple movies out during the weekend. Sometimes they're weren't even any news releases at all, sometimes for a couple weeks in a row. Quickly, I realized how fast that had changed in the time I was gone. Now, it's hard for there not to be several films being released. Last weekend, two new films had opened up. This weekend, three. Weekend after? Four. This is short compared to what's coming in the months after. In December, there are over ten movies being released. Over ten films! Back when I originally played, there were hardly four or five films a month. This has doubled.

Now, the handful of thanks can be given to a group of producers. Mac and Pedro are ahead of the list, popping out films as if they were babies. Some argue its a good thing, some say its bad. But to be honest, they aren't even the ones that are putting out all those films. In the last few months, other thanks can go out to Lucian, Quantum, Romeoitaliano, Exavior, Safron, etc... All people who put in hard work to put out a film for people to watch and enjoy, deserve a round of a applause. Especially for those who weren't mentioned.

But! In my return, I have noticed that advertising had gone down quite a bit. Reviews are doing about as usual as it was when I left. Journalism had also declined quite a bit. Putting out ads for my upcoming film, I realized that no one was putting out any for theirs. Occasionally there's ones for future films, tv shows, etc... but advertising isn't quite what it use to be. I mentioned it and bam, all of sudden were right here. Me writing this post. And well, your reading it when I post it. Why the hell did we create this newspaper, when there are so many others? Well... its simple. No one else has been doing too much journalism anyways. Lucian has been doing some, but one man can't do it alone. Articles in the Times have died off. I use to try and do freelancing journalism all the time when I went here... so what the hell? Why not try and do something with it.

Another reasoning behind the whole deal, was the disappointment in advertisements. So this whole post will hopefully encourage people to start posting more advertisements for their films. Put up a little more competition. A little more liveliness into the board. And get creative as well. So in an effort to put out some advertisement possibilities, here's a little something for "Halloween".

Walking around on the set of the in-production Halloween, I caught up with Anthony Hopkins. Who I've had the pleasure of chatting with quite a few times with. Immediately we greeted each other, and got down to the nitty gritty. "At first, I didn't know whether I wanted to really do Halloween. I was offered without the script being completed, and I almost turned it down. I didn't know what the hell it'd be. For all I knew, it could have been some hack-n-slash film with no real plot. A ruining of John Carpenter's vision. When I told this to you, and the studio-head, the script was handed over. I read the first 20 pages, and I realized "he's really got this down". He cares about the characters. Loomis' journey is long, treacherous and bloody."

My spirits boosted, I decided to move around to other actors/actresses that haven't been announced as the films cast yet. First approach, was Jimmy Smitts who was chatting with Bradley Cooper. Both dressed in police uniforms.  I asked why they had joined the movie. "It's fucking Michael Myers man! Why wouldn't I?" turning to Cooper, "I don't think that I can add too much more to what Jim here said." said Bradley, chuckling.

Turning around, I caught up with the beautiful Autumn Reeser. She had been casted as the medical assistant, Marion Chambers, who has a bigger role then in the original film. "Well, it's Halloween. It's an iconic franchise. I got my break from Entourage, and I was going to get to work with Anthony. So I knew I had to sign on. It was destiny."

Walking off the set of Halloween, this is me signing out. This right here is just the one of the ways you can advertise your film to the public. Cast interviews, behind-the-scenes, etc... It's not all limited to just one or two posters. Look out for more interviews and other things from WordPunch! Were looking for more things like up here, so if you want to advertise here - just give Toran or Blueothello a PM on the board. Or maybe a chat in the chatroom?  Until next time, this is Toran punchin' out.

Toran

My City Bleeds...

My city bleeds over an old rotten corpse. Tears run down My City's face as the maggots chew gently on the face of what we once new as Old School Journalism. My city cries out to the world "Who has forsaken us!?". A dark silhouette stands in the steady rain. Gripping onto what little is left in this cold, dark Journalist world. It slowly rejoices, "The King is dead, long live the King."

WordPunch! is a joint effort to get Old School Journalism back in that sweet lil' saddle. Run by Toran and blueothello who each run 2 different columns. I, blueothello run Close Enough For Noir and Toran has yet to title his Column. Expect Interviews with not only producers but also cast members and directors(maybe even the Key Grip). We hope to not only shine a spotlight on our producers and cast members but also get Exclusive Trailers and Behind The Scenes Looks.
